Atlanta Rainfall
To assess the watering needs of my garden and orchard, I needed to get a better idea of how much rainfall is being received locally. I found a source of historical and current rainfall figures for Atlanta on the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration website. However, they only report monthly figures after a month has end. They do not provide current month-to-date figures. Also, since Atlanta is a large area and rainfall varies depending on where you are in metro Atlanta. Therefore, I decided to install a rain gauge to measure and maintan rainfall records for my immediate vicinity. I purchased a Stratus RG202 from Amazon in May and began recording rainfall figures on June 1, 2012.
